BactoReal Chlamydophila pneumoniae

 

Background: Chlamydophila pneumoniae (formerly Chlamydia pneumoniae) is a gram-negative obligate intracellular bacterium and has a global distribution. It was formerly thought to be a specific human pathogen, but in the meantime it has also been found  in horses, koala, amphibians, reptiles and other animals . In humans, it commonly causes pharyngitis, bronchitis and atypical pneumonia (community-acquired pneumonia, CAP).

BactoReal® Chlamydophila pneumoniae is a detection assay for rapid and sensitive detection of DNA of Chlamydophila pneumoniae by real-time PCR. The test detects human as well as animal C. pneumoniae biovars.
