BactoReal® Neisseria meningitidis

BactoReal Neisseria meningitidis

Background: Neisseria meningitidis is a Gram-negative bacterium causing meningitis and septicemia. It has 13 clinically significant serogroups, which are classified according to the antigenic structure of their polysaccharide capsule. Five serogroups (A, B, C, Y and W135) are responsible for virtually all cases of the disease. Serogroup B is the predominant one. The capsular transport protein (ctrA) gene is unique to N. meningitidis and can be found in all meningococcal serogroups.

BactoReal® Neisseria meningitidis is a detection assay for rapid and sensitive detection of DNA of Neisseria meningitidis by real-time PCR. The test is specific for N. meningitidis and detects all known serogrops of N. meningitidis.
The test  guarantees also the detection of the three N. meningitidis strains (accession numbers GU391296, GU391295 and HQ156899) described by Cavrini et al. (2010) and Jaton et al. (2010).

See product description.
– Control
Real tests (order no. RTGMCR-1, 2 or 3) contain primers, a probe and an internal control PCR target included in the assay mix.
Internal Positive Control Assays (order no. RTGMIPC-1, 2 or 3) contain primers, a probe and an internal control PCR target in an extra tube (for control of DNA extraction and PCR inhibition).

ViroReal®, BactoReal® and ParoReal Assays detecting viral, bacterial and parasitic DNA are optimized to run under the same thermal cycling conditions and with the same amplification mix.
