Background: Bordetella bronchiseptica is a gram-negative bacterium found as a normal inhabitant of the respiratory tract in a variety of animals such as dogs, pigs and some rodents. In some cases it causes pneumonia, canine infectious tracheobronchitis (kennel cough), bronchopneumonia in cats, and atrophic rhinitis in pigs. Transmission can occur through direct contact with respiratory secretions, fomites, or inhalation of infected aerosol. In humans, it can cause infectious bronchitis.

BactoReal® Bordetella bronchiseptica is a detection assay for rapid and sensitive detection of DNA of Bordetella bronchiseptica by real-time PCR.
