Background:  Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a beta coronavirus causing Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), a zoonotic and severe respiratory disease in humans. To date, MERS-CoV has only been isolated from dromedary camels and humans. In humans, it was first identified in April 2012. Camels are a likely primary source of the MERS-CoV infection in humans.

Description:  ViroReal® Kit MERS-CoV uses one-step reverse transcription RT real-time PCR for the detection of the nucleocapsid (N) gene of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Our carefully designed primers and probe ensure highest sensitivity and specificity. The kit consists of an assay mix for the detection of the pathogen as well as a positive control and an internal positive control (IPC). Reverse transcription and PCR can be performed in one reaction well.
